The Thomas Christians of India are such and have now split into three parts, one has affiliated with Rome, one with Constantinople and one remains as originally Nestorian. Thomas Christians in India go back to the first century to the Apostle Thomas who was martyred there. His remains were transferred east and now rest in Spain. The Thomas Christians historically got their bishops from Syria. The Ethiopians and the Thomas Christians that united with Constantinople and Rome seem to have done so to preserve their existence. Before that they were and the Copts and Armenians still are Monophysite.
