Russian troops advance in Ukraine as Kyiv runs low on air defenses
The Washington Post ^ | April 12, 2024 | Isabelle Khurshudyan and Serhii Korolchuk

Posted on 04/12/2024 8:36:37 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

As Ukrainian officials plead for more Western arms and a U.S. aid package remains stalled in Congress, Russia is advancing on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, seizing new territory and intensifying attacks to capture the town of Chasiv Yar and others in the Donetsk region.

Away from the front line, Ukraine’s dwindling air defense capabilities are showing vulnerabilities, as more Russian missiles and drones are able to hit targets such as critical infrastructure facilities.

Outside Kyiv — considered Ukraine’s best-protected city — the largest power plant serving the capital was destroyed Thursday, stoking concerns that Ukraine might be running out of surface-to-air missiles to counter the Russian airstrikes.

“We need air defense systems and other defense assistance, not just turning a blind eye and having lengthy discussions,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

For months, Ukrainian military personnel have described the battlefield situation as dire due to a shortage of weapons and soldiers amid a renewed Russian offensive. They have reported increased Russian bombardment using guided air bombs, dropped from their planes onto Ukrainian military positions.

With resources running low, this assault in eastern Ukraine could threaten larger towns and cities such as Kostiantynivka, just west of Chasiv Yar — potentially advancing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goal of seizing the entire Donetsk region, which he has already declared, illegally, to be annexed by Russia.

“Given that the left refuses to cut spending on wasteful communist-socialist pogroms and too many politicians overall refuse to cut spending on pork . . .

Some time within the time-span of mid 2027 on up to mid 2029, all of personal income taxes will be paying all of the interest on the national debt. None of personal income taxes, will be paying down the national debt.

With that in mind, along with the bottlenecks, chokepoints, and roadblocks created by government bureaucratic regulations, weighing heavily on what American producers can/might do . . .

Plus the theft by the left, as the left steals what it can by way of thoughtless Biden (and successor) socialist-group-think edicts .”

Yes. There needs to be a Federal Budget overall as well as elimination of Federal agencies & waste such as BLM or removal of the Dept of Education created by Carter.
Also, the Federal Gov’t owns more than 5 square miles with empty office buildings in the capitol!

“Al Jazeera is no better a source than the Washington Compost.”

That may very well be. However, the fact remains PUTIN doesn’t want peace.

President Zelenskyy shared his Peace Plan back in Dec 28, 2022.

Russia must withdraw all troops and armed formations from the territory of Ukraine.

There is ZERO chance of that happening. There is no chance any of the annexed territory will ever be part of Ukraine again. Ukraine will cease existing fore the happens.

What about that don't you understand?

You're a liar. The Russians sought peace with Minsk Accords, coming to us with their security concerns in 12/21 and in Turkey in March of 2022.

It's NATO that wanted this proxy war and refuses to end it.

The Government’s Property Bloat
By Matt Jensen | Chad H. Hill
The Hill
https://www.aei.org/publication/the-governments-property-bloat/

NOTE DATE: OCTOBER 31, 2011

“Federal agencies own nearly half a million buildings, occupying 3.3 billion square feet. “The buildings alone represent ENOUGH SPACE to fit 1.4 million average-sized new American homes.

A 2009 government report by the Federal Real Property Council indicates that the agencies themselves don’t even know how to use that much space. Of the 429,000 federal buildings, about 11 percent were underutilized in 2009.

The definition for under-utilization varies by building type, but the data indicates that 15% to 50% of the underutilized buildings’ capacity is simply not being used.

Even more egregious, about 2.4% of federal buildings — more than 10,000 — are designated as EXCESS BUILDINGS, which means they have been “formally identified as having NO further program use.”

CHECK OUT FEDERAL WASTE:

FEDERAL WASTE: buildings generate real operation and maintenance costs. In 2009 alone, the cost of maintaining federal excess buildings was $134 million, and the operating cost of underutilized buildings was $1.7 billion. The additional waste associated with the unused capacity of underutilized buildings is between $250 and $830 million YEARLY!

The US is the defender of the free world globally whether by formal agreement or not for decades on end.

NATO infringement is one of the more hysterical implausible excuses on earth.

Be real. Dems drive up oil prices and the world’s malcontents attack on the added revenue. Rinse, repeat for my entire life.

Each of us has freedom of thought and of expression.
I am not here to dictate my point of view.
Let us treat each other with mutual respect. It is important to recognize that we share mutual freedom of thought and of expression regardless if holding a differing viewpoint.

“Be real. Dems drive up oil prices and the world’s malcontents attack on the added revenue. Rinse, repeat for my entire life.”

So true!

We do need to think out-of-the- box to stop wringing our hands and pointing fingers to manipulate our agenda.

We need to get control of the Federal Budget:

Example:
IDEA: DEVELOP VIRTUAL CONGRESS TO STOP WITH BUSINESS AS USUAL [CREATE TELECOMMUTING PLAN]

Close Capitol Staff Buildings and other government properties in DC. Monies generated from sale and eliminated maintenance designated to national treasury.

DONATE Capitol Bldg to Smithsonian to be used only for Inauguration, State of the Union or to declare war.
Mandate agencies be combined in 2 office buildings with other unused properties sold or developed to be used: house homeless veterans, retirement or skilled care condominiums or federally subsidized housing for welfare recipients and enlarge Arlington Cemetery.

NOTE: Federal agencies own nearly half a million buildings, occupying 3.3 billion square feet. “The buildings alone represent enough space to fit 1.4 million average-sized new American homes. COLLATERAL SAVINGS:
1. Little to no transportation per Representative/Senator.
2. Hold town hall meetings every Monday throughout THEIR own state.
3. Use of electronic communication for voting, committee meetings, etc. will be open to Sunshine Laws
4. No need for Senator & Representative duplication of housing, offices, staff
5. More environmental ‘friendly’ reducing: paper waste, reduction electricity,
6. Eliminate Congressional travel expense.
7. One-Third of Federal Government less vulnerable to Washington D.C. terrorist attack

POLITICAL BENEFITS:
1. Reduce lobbyists control over government
2. Representatives/Senators more responsive to their constituents
3. Increase accountability while reducing moral temptations for Representatives/Senators

March 22, 2013, 10:22 pm GOP lawmaker seeks ‘virtual Congress’ By Jennifer Martinez
Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) wants to create a “virtual Congress,” where lawmakers would leverage videoconferencing and other remote work technology to conduct their daily duties in Washington from their home districts. Under a resolution Pearce introduced on Thursday, lawmakers would be able to hold hearings, debate and vote on legislation virtually from their district offices.

“Thanks to modern technology, members of Congress can debate, vote, and carry out their constitutional duties without having to leave the accountability and personal contact of their congressional districts. Keeping legislators closer to the people we represent would pull back Washington’s curtain and allow constituents to see and feel, first-hand, their government at work,” Pearce told The Hill in a statement.

“Corporations and government agencies use remote work technology; it’s time that Congress does the same,” the New Mexico Republican said. He introduced the same resolution during the last congressional session. https://thehill.com/policy/technology/289947-republican-proposes-letting-lawmakers-work-from-home

“They have empty government office space all over the nation.”

Also, needless agencies with their mini-bureaucracies that do the work of Congress setting policies!!!

I love my country. Enough is enough!
Our parents wound not want us to sit back & not care enough to function. In fact, my Dad would not want the tragedy of the invasion by Putin into Ukraine to develop like WWII did!

Russian troops including 100 specialists to train Niger troops, have landed in Niger.

U.S. troops have been told by the Niger government, to leave . . . but the U.S. troops have not yet departed.

Apparently, both the Russians and a group of U.S. troops are at the airfield - see the video.

Let Russia suggests some terms that the Ukrainians could accept

That ship sailed two years ago. The Russians will offer Ukraine the same deal they proposed to Nazi Germany: nothing.

If you suffered a home invasion, and the police arrived and said the solution is invaders get to keep half of your house, would you accept that “peace” settlement?

Of your child was bullied at school and the administration said to keep the “peace” your child needs to give half their lunch money to the bully, you would be fine with that?

Russia/putin is the bully, and xi and other bullies are watching

As I recall a little bully with a tiny mustache got “peace in our time” when others gave other peoples land to him. How did that work out?
