That would be dumb and false. Let's keep government out of murder then. That doesn't make any moral or reasoned sense
Keep it a state's issue, which it should be, and use reasoned arguments as why it should be illegal in each state.
What always amazes me is how people want a magic bullet. Passing another law will fix things.
Sometimes you have to change the culture the old fashioned way. One on one.
Donate to local organizations supporting adoption.
Passing another law is a feel good of intent. And it is needed but the ground work is more important.
There is no doubt that hearts and minds are being changed. Look at all of the support that abortion has lost in the last 20 years, its not insignificant. Time to keep this a state's issue, which it is, divide and conquer, and keep using reasoned arguments as to why abortion should be illegal in each state. Grass roots.
Same can be said about 2nd Amendment rights. It has shifted in the right direction.
They can rig state elections just like they do national elections.
How many here against abortion have actually given money or time for the cause? It is the hill they want to die on but they haven’t opened their check book.
There are many issues we have to fight on. We can’t all be involved in every issue.
But we can encourage each other on the many issues of conservatism.
The battle has to start at the local and state level.
If you knew your history, you would know how bad morals and society was in the early 1800. Alcohol was the issue in much of the situation. There was an overswing ending in prohibition but maybe that is what was needed.
Cultural change begins at the local level. Always has. Our opponents understand this.
Until we restore the republic the issue of abortion is moot.
Thinking otherwise allows Deep State to divide us.
We need to be one issue voters: Who will restore the republic.
That’s Trump.
We can argue about the rest later.
Trump is correct that this is now a States issue. He should have left it at that because the rest of it was unnecessary for him to say as it is not a true pro-life position.
A flat endorsement of IVF does not take into account the predominant practice of artificially fertilizing several human eggs creating human beings--human beings that are callously destroyed if they are not the lucky one chosen by their doctor.
Likewise, the old "no abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or harm to the mother" has long been exposed as being meaningless. The first two are extremely rare cases in producing a child, something like 2%. And they are also besides the point in that it is still not justification for murdering an innocent child who had nothing to do with the circumstances of his conception. The danger to the mother excuse is also a red herring because procedures to save the life of the mother are not purposely targeting the baby. In most of the cases, the loss of the baby is a sad consequence of trying to save the life of the mother (and the baby, if possible) but it is not the intent to go after an otherwise healthy baby.
The bottom line is that, even though it seems clear to me and others that it is rational to conclude that human life begins at conception, it is an unfortunate fact there is doubt or disbelief about this in a large segment of the population. Is it a human life, or isn't it? If it isn't, you can do whatever you want with it. If it is, it should be treated like all other human life. If one simply does not know, it should be given the benefit of the doubt of being human until proved otherwise. It would be akin to seeing a human shaped bag in the middle of the road. If there's a chance there's a human being in there, do you stop or go around it, or just run over it because you don't know? If you are going to err, it's always wise to err on the side of life.
I would like to think that Trump is not so misinformed as his statement indicates, but I realize he may also be framing it for public consumption to get elected. Still, it does not sit well with me because it is an erroneous and immoral position to take and may have the effect of misinforming the public more than they already are.
So can Oklahoma force its gun rights on California?
That’s what the Founding Fathers intended. Matters such as this are not federal. Abortion is nowhere mentioned in the US Constitution. Ergo, it is a matter for states to decide.
I am 100% pro-life. No exceptions of any kind for any reason. But this is acceptable to me. That’s what we were fighting for for 50 years. Now that we have it, we can’t say we want it the other way around. Trump gave us what we were asking for. Now it’s up to us to win people’s hearts and minds on the issue so we can move forward on a state by state basis.
Yup. It dilutes their argument. The issue takes focus away from the border invasion. It’s a distraction.
Right.
And it took a constitutional amendment to end it. Same with Abortion. The SCOTUS has ruled it an issue for the states
Fair and square if you discount ballot manipulation.
The Ohio State Republicans have been doing it for years.
Ohio Republicans are part of the problem. Not the solution.
I don’t sit around and do nothing. I have been battling this for years and have been ignored.
Go “oh please” someone else.
Good luck when your local level is corrupt.
I would argue for many reasons it could have been better for the country if it was left up to the states.
All of that may be true. But people can move out of a state fairly easily compared to having to move to another country.
Leaving it to the States is the worst way to do it...except for all the others.
