Vietnam and Afghanistan were both betrayed and lost by leftist democrats. Iraq an unnecessary war but also screwed up by the left and when Bush then punked out, ultimately Obama deserted that one.
We desperately need the bases in Afghanistan and Vietnam to counter China now, losing strategic places in the world to your enemies has real consequences.
IMO, it was people in both parties that kept telling us Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam were wars we needed to be involved in, as it turns out we are not in any of those countries with any meaningful presence, recent history has shown we are not good at occupying a country or winning hearts and minds thru the military.
If we are going to engage with those countries, a different approach might have made a difference, instead of throwing our military into the country maybe try the China model of building infrastructure, the problem is, we can’t even build infrastructure for ourselves much less for other countries.

It never stops. Now bases in Afghanistan are a “desperate need” for America? LOL? And bases in Vietnam? To do what? Protect Vietnamese offshore oil claims? And Bush punked out on a decades war with Iraq?
It never ends with the DC war crowd. They love the cash an profits. And they string along normal people with stadium flyovers and movies, and they laugh about how easy it is. It’s a sicko war fetish.
