Just sit in a closet with the lights out if you want to see dark.
Why are millions of people traveling to see darkness? Can’t they just wait for the sun to go down?
The thing that surprised me most was the sound of night insects starting as ‘night’ fell in the middle of the day. Then a bit of the sun appeared and the night sounds ended as abruptly as the began and it became lighter and lighter.
I’ve been in the shadow of the moon twice and am looking forward to a third time. If you are close to the line of totality it is worth the trip.
I’m on the 98% line. That’s good enough for me.
If you can and the sky is clear seeing totality is worth the time and trouble to get to it, IMHO.
Hotels here in East Texas are booked and expecting a lot of people in the Longview Texas area also! I have to work that day and we’ll see how it’ll be around here! People are kind of being Henny Penny about oh my we’ll have food and gas shortages! Ha! Oh well! Kind of exciting to me even though I have to work! 😁
Maybe they mean a 115 mile wide path.
A quote from the linked page:
“The solar eclipse (pictured) will spread across 115 miles from Maine to Texas”
I never knew that Maine was just a 2 hour drive from the Metroplex. I thought it was a lot further.
Obviously they are too stupid to know what they are talking about.
I am in SE Texas. We had an eclipse in October of 2023.
It got sort of dark about noon.
We are expecting a lot of rain for this one, so we will see if there is anything to see.
Well hopefully it’ll be good for all of us with people coming to see it in our areas!
Went to the one near Farmington, NM, was great. Drove out of town about 25 miles, ended up in the middle of a big party of people, some of whom knew each other and were meeting up, kids adults, and some real pros with great equipment. Had a blast.
Wife got a nice totality shot.
Just stay where you are and I’ll bring back the Sun 🌞
I agree, we’ve done two and both were great. Saw some really nice country on both trips, Wyoming (went to S.D. afterwards), and New Mexico, gorgeous drive through western Colorado to get there and back.

And this guy is allowed to teach children??
Pensacola is getting around 85 percent coverage no matter what, so I’m not worried about this.
I’ve got a 4 hour drive to northern Vermont/southern Quebec to a totality zone. I could do it in one day...getting home very late. But they say that traffic is gonna be bad.
We’re here in the TX Hill Country, now, and it wasn’t too busy/crowded, this afternoon.
I think they said they’re expecting the hordes, er, crowds to arrive beginning tomorrow afternoon.
We’re well stocked, so, thankfully, we don’t have to go back out there with the zombies 🧟♀️ 😂
It is exciting with everyone talking about it together, at the stores, restaurants, etc.
I need to get back that 40 seconds I just wasted, on that 😂
.
Well I hope it’s all good for all! I rather be at home or at my sister home where I could enjoy it! She has a beautiful 22 acres of open sky to view! I may skip work! 😁
