There’s a subgroup of so-called self-hating Jews. The phenomenon fits in well with white liberal guilt.
I don’t follow Israeli politics in detail, but I like Netanyahu. And many Israelis do too, or he wouldn’t be in office; of course, he is controversial there. More to the point, post-attack isn’t the time for internecine political battles (although that’s up to the Israeli people).
All I know is that if Hamas succeeds, the world will learn that large-scale terrorist attacks on civilian populations work, and we’ll get more of them.
Given the latest data, it is more accurate to say that within American Jews, "there’s a subgroup of Jews who do not indulge in self-hatred.". This seems to be in the minority. The vast majority of American Jews (around 75-80%) detest Netanyahu, and are rock solid in their support for the Palestinian people.
