Sacrilegious San Francisco tradition draws thousands on Easter Sunday

On Easter, as the Mission District’s pious donned their Sunday best and filed into the Basilica, an altogether different congregation was gathering in Dolores Park, orchestrated by a colorful, sacrilegious clergy.

I should have gone and opened a "Matthew Shepard Piñata" booth. Piñatas include the fence railings, which can also be used to beat it with.

How would that be any different from the mocking scorn heaped upon Jesus in this sacrilegious festival?

The hosts followed last year’s tradition by inviting onstage State Sen. Scott Wiener, who hyped up the audience between the Foxy Mary and Hunky Jesus contests.
