Any option that has Hamas or any wanna-be terrorists intact or in power in the end would be an immediate no-starter for me. I believe I’d tell Brown to worry about his own problems and leave Israel alone. They know what they need to do.

I believe there are two main issues.
First, Israel has an agreement with Egypt going back to the 1970s that they will not put more than X amount of troops within a couple miles of the Gaza/Egypt border. This goes back to the Bagan/Sadat/Jimmy Carter Peace Agreement.
Secondly, the remaining hostages are in the tunnels being used as human shields protecting Sinwar and the remaining military leaders of Hamas. So, if they go in a kill Hamas, they will most likely end up killing the remaining hostages too.
It is frustrating to watch because it seemed like the IDF was constantly gaining ground in southern Gaza and then they came to halt. The two reasons above were what I understood the reason for the halt.
