The young widow of slain hero cop Jonathan Diller tore into elected officials for allowing crime in NYC to spiral unchecked, as an estimated 10,000 people gathered in Long Island to salute her husband at his funeral Saturday.

“How many more police officers and how many more families have to make the ultimate sacrifice before we start protecting them?” Stephanie Diller, 29, tearfully demanded during her devastating eulogy inside St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Massapequa.

Diller was fatally shot Monday during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway, Queens, by a pair of career criminal with dozens of prior arrests, authorities said.

Wiping away the tears. Some of the NY Post comments are horrible. My daughter is married to a LEO in a major metro area. This is very personal.

Many more. It's going to be just like the bad old days in the '70s.

We can only hope for the bad old days of the 1970s. The leftist are taking us in a direction the rest of the country refuses to fight back on.

From the article:

Maria Silverman, 50, a Manhattan-based actor married to an NYPD lieutenant, said Diller’s was the eighth funeral she’d attended for an officer killed in the line of duty.

“I’m a lifelong Democrat, but the thing where I really differ from the party line is support for the police,” she said. “I think the way cops have been treated, 50,000 assaults a year, the maligning of their active service and sacrifice, is galling.”

LADY, YOU VOTED FOR IT!

Things were pretty bad back then. Yes. NYC is getting out of control. But it's still pretty tame compared to back then.

I was speaking about the country in general.

Most of the country is red today. Most people are just making a living and minding their own business. Just don’t go to NYC or LA.

If it makes you feel better to believe that, go for it. But I think you would be greatly disappointed. I bet most of the country is purple, as they don't lean strict left or strict right on all issues.

If it wasn’t such a pain in the butt to post pictures on this site, I would. The map is pretty red.

That's utter and complete BOVINE EXCREMENT!

I lived in NYC in part of the 1970s and was back and forth during the rest of that decade. What has been going on these past several years, there, are many light years WORSE than it was in the 1970s!

You often make comments about things that you nothing NOTING factual about. You really shouldn't do that!

The only big issue that would make us “purple” is the abortion issue. FWIW, we need to recognize that and give abortion rights to the American people. Even Kansas voted “yes” on their referendum. That’s fine with me as long as it’s up to each state to make that decision.

If you’re talking about the GOP led districts, do realize that a sizable number, probably a majority, of GOP elected politicians are RINOs or not a staunch conservative (at least for this forum).

Or Chicago and even the wealthy suburbs of Ill., Philly and its environs, D.C., Denver, Oregon, Washington, and quite a few other states; some of them supposedly “RED”!

Most of the big cities in the country, the big population centers, are democrat controlled, and they often determine which party is going to prevail in a state.
I’m in Illinois. The Democrats in Chicago pretty much rule Illinois. It’s been a LOT of years since this state was red.

Yeah but that’s Illinois. If you live in that state, maybe you should get out and move to a red state like Florida.
