Convenience stores deliberately attract people with money, credit cards & phones. Gas stations attract the same kind of people with the bonus of possessing cars. Thieves like money, credit cards, phones and cars. So the crime is the stores’ fault.

It is very important not to blame the thieves, who just want to ‘touch’ nice things.
