I’ve never understood why a bunch of these store owners don’t get together and make a mutual commitment to shoot, shovel and shut up. Oh, and sorry cops, but those surveillance cameras are just for show. Or just lose the footage.
“I’ve never understood why a bunch of these store owners don’t get together and make a mutual commitment to shoot, shovel and shut up.”
I was in the Philippines in 1968, before Marcos declared martial law. Even in small towns, every jewelry store or other store selling high value items had armed guards sitting or standing beside the front door, some had obviously armed guards inside, too. When I say “obvious” I mean with Thompson submachine guns or a shotgun slung on their shoulder and .45 pistol in a belt holster.
The Mayor is setting up a choice between that and lamenting the “convenience store desert.” In her heart of hearts, if she has a heart, she wants martial law, too, IMO.
If I owned a store, it would be walk up only. Bullet proof glass, tell me what you want to buy and we’ll get it.
