The big point here is that the Nazis never went away. And they spread all over the EU.

While Germany does have some problems, it is interesting that the most Nazified countries appear to be among the Allies (plus Ireland).
Some of the Allies and victors were also antisemitic, though. UK, USA, France, Russia...
and none of them got even the brief “deNazificiation” effort that Germany received.
