apparantly the entire crew of the ship were Indian/South Asian Not unusual. I've been aboard ships where it is an all Philippine crew save for the captain

The Harbor Pilot should have been onboard steering the ship until it got out until open water. The Harbor Pilots are supposed to know the terrain and it makes it curious how this even happens.
