What hostages? I'll bet there's not a one of them left. Remember, these type of crazed muslims make Nazi's look like nice guys. They actually love torture, rape and murder. There's no making deals with them, they just need to be exterminated, then do a head count.
Israel has confirmed that many of the hostages are already dead - but Israel still considers them as hostages. Jewish customs place a high regard on the deceased. Special teams go to clean up the blood from the streets after terrorist attacks so it can be buried with the deceased. Same goes with bloody bandages, etc.
There was a long interview with a woman that was part of a team to investigate and then prepare the bodies of deceased females after the October 7th attack. Very interesting (and morbid).
Mutilated and burned bodies were difficult to prepare for burial. One of her comments was something like “The head of the body according to Jewish burial practices must be placed in a certain direction. For several of the deceased we made our best guess.”
