The Democrats do not care in the slightest manner about what is legal.
The law is whatever the Democrats say it is. And the Democrats refuse to be restrained by the US Constitution. They also ignore the Courts when it suits them. "We, the people" seem to tolerate this.
These conflicts will most likely be settled by force, not by legal arguments. We are headed for a civil war. Control of the police and military forces will be the decisive factor in who prevails. Criminal cartels may have quite a bit of influence on who keeps control of the police and military forces as they can outbid potential recruits for both of them.

Who is on a ballot can be understood by the voter. They can’t ignore a Supreme Court ruling on that.
Anyway, if that is the way they want to roll, various states can just start removing whoever the democrat candidate is.
