House Oversight and Accountability Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) suggested the impeachment vote against President Biden may not be the “best path” and said he instead thinks criminal referrals will be the way to go.
“I believe that the best path to accountability is criminal referrals,” Comer told Newsmax hosts Thursday.
The Oversight Committee held a hearing Wednesday on the impeachment inquiry into Biden. Democrats pressured Republicans to identify the criminal conduct underlying their probe, as doubts rise about the future of the investigation into the president’s business dealings.
Comer argued in the interview that “real accountability” for Biden now looks like “providing real criminal referrals to the Department of Justice,” because the Democratic-controlled Senate would likely table any impeachment into Biden “like they’re gonna do with the Merrick Garland impeachment.”

Did anyone expect anything different? Of course the weak kneed GOP wasn’t going to proceed with impeachment. It was all a show.

The impeachment hearings provided the opportunity for exposure. Doubtful there were ever realistic plans in place to impeach.

He didn’t say that he was giving up on impeachment. He said that the best way was criminal referrals. And they are. But the reporter Etter is framing it the way she wants because it doesn’t agree with the story she wanted to write.

Anyone who didn't already know that was deluding themselves. Historically, Repukes turn tail and run. And then they wonder why they can't get a decent majority in Congress, or keep it.
Neither approach is ultimately going anywhere.
However a house impeachment in the history books is more effective than a criminal referral back to the Biden DOJ. It ends up in the history books and Biden gets labeled as being impeached.
I agree with you. Impeachment would simply be looked at as a tot-for-tat political reprisal by Republicans for the Democrats’ impeachment of Trump. Criminal referrals might just get even the low-infos beginning to wonder if the old geezer might really be a crook after all.

Trump was impeached twice for nothing. The Democrats had a slim majority at the time but several Republicans joined the Democrats and Trump was impeached.
The Democrats were persistent and won.

What a puke-worthy statement. It’s because of the worthless, do-nothing GOPe who can’t garner enough votes for an impeachment. The same turncoats that passed a $1.4 trillion budget and we have no money to pay for it and not a dime for the border, the criminals have to print it . And they’ll do it it again in 90 days putting another trillion on the debt. And of course these POS congress uniparty people are too busy spending printed money than saving the nation.
We went from one the greatest times to be alive to one of the worst to to be alive in only a couple years.
That doesn’t matter. Or rather it’s exactly the point. They should NOT be allowed to get away with a bogus impeachment of our guy without getting one right back in the teeth. Of course they might say it was payback for Clintoon but that wasn’t bogus. Biteme is getting jerked around by all the groups he took bribes from in Ukraine and China, and that’s what’s driving our foreign policy now. He MUST be impeached.
