The executive director of the Little Rock airport who was shot by federal agents serving a search warrant at his home earlier this week has died.
A statement from the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport announced the death of Bryan Malinowski at noon Thursday.
The statement from Bill Walker, chair of the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission, noted that under Malinowski’s leadership the airport saw “significant growth and success” and offered condolences to Malinowski’s family.
“With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our executive director Bryan Malinowski. Bryan was a 16-year employee of the airport. Under his leadership, our airport has experienced significant growth and success, expanding services and offerings to our community and state. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bryan’s wife, Maer, loved ones and friends.”

Malinowski was shot during an exchange of gunfire with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tuesday morning.
ATF officials said the agents were serving a search warrant at Malinowski’s west Little Rock home around 6 a.m. when the shootout happened. Federal officials said that Malinowski shot first from inside the home, at which point agents returned fire, hitting Malinowski multiple times.

I live in Little Rock and I just saw this update from one of our local business publications on the shooting in the story
“He said Bryan Malinowski collected guns and other weapons, as well as coins, lived in an upper-middle class suburb and earned $253,000 a year.”
wHite male, successful, gun collector. Coins. ‘There’s so much evil in this world’. He’ll put buried and forgotten and it’ll never be brought up again and the ATF guys probably are still coming off the rush.

Update (3/21): An attorney for the family of Bryan Malinowski released a statement Thursday afternoon that said a gun sale was linked to the search warrant federal authorities executed at Malinowski’s home in Little Rock.
“At worst, Bryan Malinowski, a gun owner and gun enthusiast, stood accused of making private firearm sales to a person who may not have been legally entitled to purchase the guns,” said the statement released by Little Rock attorney Bud Cummins.

It’s been a long time ago. Maybe twenty years? But I remember on the news one time the Miami police (or sheriffs, I’m not sure) went to some man’s home in Liberty City and tried to bust in.
The man’s house had been something else at one time like an ice house and it had really thick walls and because of the crappy neighborhood he’d fortified the place.
The police are outside trying to bust in his door and demanding that he open it and that they had a warrant. He called the FHP for help and God bless them they showed up. When the local cops couldn’t produce a warrant the FHP told them to leave.
The thing that stuck in my head is that we’re at that point where we need to leave in fortified homes because of criminals without badges and criminals with badges.
I guess I made it to this point in life because a few people helped me along the way. When I see other people who need help fighting back I want to help them too. Especially when what they want is help so they can fight their own battle.
And what ever happened to having a search warrant and ringing the doorbell and being polite? The law is on their side. If there is no demonstrated history of violence, these shock and awe raids with tanks, cops dressed like paratroopers, flash bangs, and storming houses at 6am is un-American.
And that’s a crazy story about the ice house. Who would have thought concrete walls would come back into style?
