Ben & Jerry’s could soon have a new owner after giving its corporate parent fits over its Israel activism.
Unilever’s new chief executive said he wants to spin off the company’s ice cream division with brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Magnum and Popsicle mostly likely listed as a separate company, although an outright sale to another firm is also possible.
The move, which would also shed around 7,500 jobs, is part of a restructuring sought by Hein Schumacher, the CEO who took over last year from Alan Jope.

.
Perhaps they could sell it to someone that wants to you know, just MAKE ICE CREAM???
.
Ben & Jerrys was always a “hippie flavored” brand.
The founders, Cohen and Greenfield, are very intense left wing political activists - though mostly its Ben Cohen.
Especially in cultural issues, but being anti-Israel has been in the mix for many years, as well as, interestingly, anti Ukrainian aid.
Why sell it? Give it to the Fakestinian terrorists. Then, As any historian of France knows, this would “Lat them eat ice cream!”
You couldn’t pay me to buy that shit
Just fire the unit’s management team. Hire a PR team to distance the brand from the founder’s views. Maybe hire a legal team to go after the founders. These are some solutions the owner failed to use.
this is great news, i will be able to buy unilever products now.
IMHO, BETTER THAN Ben and Jerry’s:
- Friendly’s Ice Cream (Friendly’s Restaurants)
- Howard Johnsons (Restaurants)
- Helen Hutchley’s Ice Cream
In general, there are companies that produce ice cream according to the recipes and quality control required by the label owners.
So, you may find ice cream that you like, or not, produced by a particular facility.
There is a wonderful chain Celtic Creamery that makes their own. They have donuts to add in some of their creations. Never had the donuts, but they smell great when they pop some in the fryer.
B & J’s has been off my list for years. I want to know how many people they have murdered with their high fat, high sugar frozen death bombs.
Boycotting the politics of Ben & Gerry has helped to make it easier for me to avoid lactose intolerance.
“Perhaps they could sell it to someone that wants to you know, just MAKE ICE CREAM???”
But what fun is making ice cream when you’re not calling for the EXTERMINATION OF JEWS at the same time?
It’s probably little do with politics. They probably want to focus on core industries and don’t need an ice cream division. They sell soap. Ice cream is a lot of extra logistics. Soap doesn’t need to be frozen and doesn’t have an expiration date.
