Rand Paul vows to hold up $1T ‘minibus’ that must pass by Friday

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he will hold up a $1 trillion “minibus” spending package that needs to pass by the end of the day Friday to avoid triggering a partial government shutdown.

“I will hold it up primarily because we’re bankrupt and it’s a terrible idea to keep spending money at this rate,” Paul told The Hill Wednesday.

“The spending bills before us will lead to a $1.5 trillion deficit for the year. We’re borrowing about $1 trillion every three months. It’s an alarming pace of accumulation of debt,” he said.

“My opposition to this will be based on how much” the package would add to the U.S. debt, which now stands at $34.5 trillion, he added.

Asked if he would delay final Senate passage of the bill past the weekend, which would trigger a partial government shutdown, Paul shrugged and lifted his palms to the air, signaling he hadn’t decided yet how long to delay it.

Funding for the Departments of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, State and other federal agencies will expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

The Kentucky lawmaker said he would see to amend the package, which was crafted by a small group of congressional leaders and senior appropriators after negotiating with the White House.

The RINOs, GOPe, uniparty, deep state, swamp, elites, establishment, turncoats, assistant democrats, traitors, back-stabbers, lying liars, swamp dwellers, debt junkies, crooks, thieves, scumbags, republicrats, democrat lite and so forth will make sure all the spending goes through.

In simple words, the gang that couldn’t impeach Xiden.

"...he hadn’t decided yet how long to delay it..."

Frankly, it's a pointless grandstanding gesture unless the delay is permanent pending a real change in spending habits: 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days... the result is the same unless it's 5 years.

No will to reduce spending. Can someone ask Johnson, or Biden how much spending is enough? When is it too much spending? I want to know what the hell these idiots are thinking.

If you really want to know what the hell these idiots are thinking, you need to study up on Modern Monetary Theory.

Modern Monetary Theory makes the current “science” on “gender” look positively sane by comparison.

The first paragraph of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_monetary_theory is a pretty good synopsis.

The good guys never rise to the top in the Senate.

Rand is destined to be a “backbencher” unless he runs for president and is catapulted into the big time.

That’s my hope: That one day that America will be ready for him and his message. It could happen.

He might get an important committee chairmanship due his now 14 years seniority.

Homeland security, for example.

But I suspect if GOP get into Majority they will cheat him out of it and shuffle him somewhere else.

This is how it works..

He should be clear on his intention, AND, he should shut it down.
