At the very least “the point” is that Russia is having to send troops and equipment to this area of the front which weakens other areas, at the most it shows to the Russian people that Putin can’t even defend actual Russian territory.
While ordering the taking of the rest of the illegally annexed Ukrainian territories, which they haven’t at great cost, parts of Russia are being lost

I have read on several other sites and internet news that Russia continues a slow advance all along the line. Ukraine had several counter attacks on Russian election day that were not successful. But, who knows the truth??
