KYIV (Reuters) - The UN’s Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) has released its first comprehensive report on the situation in the territories of Ukraine occupied since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
Although the U.N. did not have access to Russian-occupied areas, the report was based on 2,319 remote and in-person interviews with witnesses and victims.
“Many people living under occupation have endured intimidation and repression, facing a constant threat of violence, detention, and punishment,” the report concluded, adding that in these cases nobody had been held accountable.
Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations that its forces have committed atrocities during the invasion, which it claims is a “special military operation”.
KILLINGS
The report said its investigators had verified the executions of 26 civilians, including two children, on the spot, for instance during house searches, as well as the killing of a further 30 civilians during detention. Most executions were committed between March and May 2022, it said.
TORTURE AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE
The report said torture in places of detention was widespread.
“OHCHR received credible and reliable accounts regarding the treatment of 171 civilian detainees and found that 90% of them had been tortured or ill-treated,” it said.

Several more vehicles and people were attacked.
The entire series of documented incidents, of Russians shooting at passing cars and killing people, is in the following YouTube video:
March 16, 2022 - Hundreds of Ukrainians killed in Russian artillery strike upon the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre.
2022 Kharkiv Offensive - HIMARS [surprise] - pushed Russians back and exposed locations of Ukrainians who had been imprisoned and tortured - most often in small basements. [IMHO, some of these events were ad hoc - but done under an impression of orders given, rather than direct orders.]
Satellite images show civilian deaths in Ukraine town while it was in Russian hands - April 5, 2022
April 5 (Reuters) - Satellite images taken weeks ago of the town of Bucha in Ukraine show bodies of civilians on a street, a private U.S. company said, undercutting the Russian government's claims that Ukrainian forces caused the deaths or that the scene was staged.
Maxar Technologies provided nine images taken of Bucha on March 18, 19 and 31 to Reuters. At least four of the images appear to show bodies on one of the town's roads, Yablonska Street. The city was occupied by Russian forces until about March 30.
April 27 (Daily Mail) - The Russian brigade accused of carrying out heinous war crimes against helpless civilians in Bucha has reportedly been attacked by Ukrainian drones and suffered 'heavy losses' in the Donbas, amid claims Vladimir Putin wants them to 'disappear'.
Soldiers of the 64th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 35th All-Russian Army, who Ukrainian authorities named as those responsible for torturing, raping and executing civilians on the outskirts of Kyiv, withdrew last month to Belarus and then Russia.
With many unfiltered responses directly from the information sewer pipes of the Kremlin's Ministry for Agitation and Propaganda.
There are several good sources for daily updates which show on detailed maps exactly where battles were fought and ground won or lost.
They all say pretty much the same things.
One result is that Russian casualties now total well over 400,000 according to Ukrainians.
Ukrainian casualties are said to be 1/3 of Russia's overall.
So, Big Picture:
Russia's population is around 100 million Russians plus another 45 million non-Russians, while Ukraine's population is down to maybe 37 million, plus another seven million refugees, according to some.
Others would say those are exaggerated.
A huge problem for Ukraine is that most of the "Russians" manning Russia's bloody Meat Wave assaults are not actually Russians, but rather poor non-Russians or Russian criminals released from jail.
Very recently Wikipedia increased its report on the size of Ukraine's military from just under one million total, including reserves, to now over three million, roughly matching Russia's.
We can only guess how realistic such numbers are, but what they suggest is that Ukrainian mobilization is now approaching something resembling US mobilization levels during the Second World War.
During that war, the Old Soviets were twice as mobilized as we were, but today Vlad the Invader's Russia is less than half as mobilized as is Ukraine.
That is something I'm certain Vlad hopes to correct, now that his "reelection" show is completed.
As of today, nobody knows where, exactly, is the breaking point for either peoples, but I suspect and hope that Ukrainians are tougher.
Others here obviously disagree, some not so politely.
Question: Which side is cheering on rapists and murderers?
Answer: pro-RuZZians
I believe that Putin by necessity has limited the exposure of ethnic Russians to his smo meat waves, if this continues much longer that will not be an option. Then perhaps tuckers âmost beautiful cityâ might have a change of âheartâ
I've also wondered about that, but two things.
Your pro-Russian cheer-leading notwithstanding, the facts remain that Russia's daily "wins" are a matter of acres, a few square miles at most, typically the next tree-lines, while Russia's losses per day amount to at least hundreds of men and dozens of vehicles.
The exchange rate in land seems to be something in the range of 1,000 Russian soldiers for every square mile they claw away from Ukrainians.
The exchange rate of personnel in Russian "Meat Wave" assaults is said by Ukrainians to be circa 10 Russians for every one Ukrainian.
Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Agreed wholeheartedly."
Seriously??
Why are you guys babbling insane nonsense about the Methodist Church on a Russia-Ukraine War thread?
Sure, I understand what you're doing, and it's totally disgusting -- you want to link UMCRevMom@aol.com to the worst of the worst of modern culture and then argue that's why we have to let Vlad the Invader rape and murder whomever he wants in Ukraine.
I don't think our moderators would let me tell the truth about how loathsome your arguments are, sadly.
â⊠At the very least âthe pointâ is that Russia is having to send troops and equipment to this area of the front which weakens other areas, at the most it shows to the Russian people that Putin canât even defend actual Russian territory.âŠâ
*******************************************************************
Maybe it has escaped you that this has become just âyet another meat grinderâ that Kyiv is feeding its dwindling availability of manpower into. Just sayinâ.
Ukraine's response to Russian "Meat Wave" assaults seems to be, to give ground slowly with the aim of exchanging:
But thanks for calling the mess in the schismatic UMC travail in this time "the worst of the worst of modern culture."
Feel free to believe anything on the internet you desire to believe. And feel free to join Zelensky with YOUR own body and YOUR own finances. Just donât make American taxpayers support you in YOUR foolâs errand.

There you go again, mommy. Talking about FReepers behind their backs.
How very CHRISTIAN of you.
If you have something to say about me, have the courage to include me in your post.
The fact that her user name includes “UMC”, the abbreviation for United Methodist Church and “Rev” the abbreviation for Reverend, opens these topics up for discussion.
“Wrong Freeper. Bimboeruption lays claims to be the hall monitor. LOL”
Hall monitors are needed...as objects of ridicule. Bro and Bimbo are probably besties.
Uh oh...I forgot to include Bimbo in the “To” block above. Guess I’ll be receiving a wrist slap or maybe a demerit.
