I met him twice. Great man. The heroes of old are slowly dying off, and it seems as if there are precious few to replace them.

Astronaut Thomas P. Stafford, who commanded a dress rehearsal flight for the 1969 moon landing and the first U.S.-Soviet space linkup, died Monday. He was 93.

"dress rehearsal"....an interesting choice of words!
