Biden’s brain surgeries
In February 1988, after several episodes of increasingly severe neck pain,
Biden underwent surgery to correct a leaking intracranial brain aneurysm.
While recuperating, he suffered a pulmonary embolism,
a serious complication which most people do not survive.
A second brain aneurysm had Biden back in surgery in May 1988.
Biden’s recuperation kept him out of the Senate for seven months.
