“There is at least one piece on the web somewhere that describes a system where Home school classes meed in rented halls around the city and particular parents with some experience and professional expertise and some volunteer professionals teach largish classes of from ten to twenty or so.”

When you say volunteer professionals, do you mean that they work for free? And if not, I wonder what the pay is, comparatively. I have a friend that’s currently working for a high school that is about 70% African American students. She hates the job and is looking to retire, but I bet if she could get a safer, nicer gig, she might consider not retiring altogether.

Professionals in relevant areas who volunteer to teach without necessarily being parents of students.
