The kid was a girl-female, and her father is in prison-has no parental rights-mother was not able to raise a kid, gave kid to grandma, who apparently wasn’t either. The girl was suffering from mental illness and was encouraged in her delusions by adults who should know better, but it appears that no one cared enough to get her into a psych facility/therapy before it was too late. Not all bad things are the fault of a father-negligence by other family members who don’t want to believe a kid is mentally ill is just as damaging-denial i not just a river in Egypt.
