Europe is continuing its shift to the right, as voters in Portugal on Sunday rejected socialist governance and cemented the populist-nationalist Chega party as a major political force in the country and potentially a coalition partner in the next government.

Following a corruption scandal hitting the highest levels of the socialist government of António Costa, whose own chief of staff and other government ministers were arrested on suspicion of corruption, forcing the PM to announce his resignation and call for an early election, the party has tumbled in the weekend’s election.

First Argentina. Next El Salvador. Now it’s Portugal. Seems we can’t get enough latinos fast enough. Leading from behind?

I see CHEGA as MAGA the RINO’s got about 30 percent (”Democratic Alliance”) and the Socialists a little less.

CHEGA got 18 percent of the vote and a majority in parliament can be created if one of the big parties forms a coalition with CHEGA.

230 Parliament Seats

79 RINO’S

77 Socialists

48 CHEGA

Given that the leader of the RINOs hates the leader of CHEGA, he’s more likely to do a deal with the Socialists to “save Our Democracy”; Just as our RINOs continue to stab the conservatives in the back every chance they get.

These “moves right” headlines over the years always seem to come in places that don’t matter - Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Portugal.

it means nothing in EU and NATO HQ. They’ll be ignored and controlled - business as usual.

That is conceivable in the Netherlands the talks drag out to form a government led by Geert Wilders following last November’s election.
