You are right. Again, age of aircraft? Failure of steering is not common, but also not unheard of. If you’ve got enough hours in your logbook, chances are you have had some sort of steering issue. Most of us were lucky it happened at slow speeds. One of the planes I flew had steer-by-wire. Lots of fun.
