"Lots of options for young, smart, capable people today. It’s a new world." Agreed. The funny thing is, in more rural and semi rural parts of the country, people have been doing all sorts of things to make money rather than be cooped up in an office 9-5. Here in North Idaho and surrounding areas you find people doing all sorts of things.

I spent my career mostly in the Silicon Valley area after five years in field service engineering. There it was the 7-7 grind (not 9-5) for everybody just to stay afloat.

There's a GREAT (and very sad) ode to the grind titled "Tall Buildings"...

You are right, it is a new world and many of us aging Boomers don’t get it. But the future will as always belong to those who will roll up their sleeves and find something that piques their interest.
