Victoria Nuland announces resignation as Biden's Undersecretary of State
A notorious neocon and protege of Dick Cheney, Nuland led the Obama administration's overthrow of Ukraine's government in 2014, leading to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
In December 2013, Nuland visited Kyiv and handed out baked goods to protesters in Maidan Square, a symbolic gesture of support that was widely publicized by Western media.
Senators John McCain and Chris Murphy rallied protestors in Maidan Square, standing next to the leader of Svoboda, Oleh Tyahnybok, informing them they had America's support.
In February 2014, Nuland was caught on a leaked phone call planning Ukraine’s new government, where she can be heard saying, “I think Yats [Arseniy Yatsenyuk] is the guy” and discussing how to “glue this thing.”
During the call, she described Tyahnybok, who provided the extremists that escalated the violence, as one of the opposition leaders they were working with.
Less than one month after the audio leaked, Arseniy Yatsenyuk became the new Prime Minister of Ukraine.

I wonder what’s next for the lovely Ms. Nuland. After all, she’s only 62. I would prefer that she get a job as a groundskeeper at Arlington National Cemetery. Then perhaps she could reflect on what her policies have accomplished.

The mistake people make is in making the giant pretense that all through the period western nations were helping the struggling democracy in Ukraine that Vladimir Putin was and had been doning nothing, overtly and covertly, to undermine Ukraine’s democratic efforts and develop Ukraine institutions compliant to him. Putin’s efforts began long before 2014, going back as far as 2004 when his minions poisoned Victor Yushchenko. That was not the last of Putin’s political machinations in Ukraine. To think western efforts occurred in a vaccuum where Putin was doing nothing is just ignorance.

So given the alternatives of full throated defense of our southern border or full throated continuation of our losing Ukraine policy, they select the latter and stay silent on the former, which politically kills off the latter. Both is not politically, economically or strategically a choice that can be had.
