Depends on the size of the boat and the HP of the motor, plus the conditions of the sea.
Usually people will cruise at 25-30 knots in a 30-40 ft boat in calm seas.................

My stepdad used to take us water skiing when I was a teen, but I never knew what speed he went. I never even thought about that, until I read this article. I know 10 knots is equivalent to 11.5 mph on land, but I still don’t know how fast we went while skiing. Hmm. So long ago. Was I ever really that young?
