One of the things that I wanted to do, when I joined the Navy, was to Hang Pirates from a Yardarm.

Unfortunately Submarines don't have Yardarms.

.........keel hauling is probably tougher than hanging. Particularly in the 1700’s. Imagine all those barnacles cutting you and running out of breath. Very few survived I think.
