What does Nikki Haley’s loss in the Republican presidential primaries, a loss in which she gathered a substantial amount of votes but was able to win only in Vermont and Washington, D.C., tell us about the Republican Party? Among other things, it tells us, as if we needed another reminder, that the GOP cannot return to the days of leaders like George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan.
Some loyal Republican voters have always been uneasy about the style of former President Donald Trump. They felt more comfortable in the GOP world of Bush, McCain, Romney, and Ryan. Even when Trump won the 2016 Republican nomination, and then the presidency, they expressed reservations about his tone or his manner or the “drama” that surrounded him. Trump supporters often mocked those concerns, suggesting that those Republicans were more worried about “mean tweets” than the fate of the nation. But the concerns were real.

Personally, I don’t give a darn about mean tweets and I don’t know any grass roots Republicans who do. I say this having been a precinct captain. It is only the elites, who are sometimes the deserving objects of the mean tweets who really care.

NeverTrump RINOs will join forces with Democrats to start impeachment proceedings against Trump the day after he is inaugurated and if they can gain control of Congress through some unholy Uniparty alliance, this time they WILL remove him from office.
Just watch Democrats pivot from stopping Trump to gaining control of Congress.
the absurdity of giving something to the guy who lost last time is mind boggling.....of course their logic never included Reagan, who lost to Ford and they didn’t want him to win in 80 but gave in begrudgingly. But I guess the fact that he ran against an incumbent was what they didn’t like.
The only time the GOP ever has energy is when they do something cool and radical....like Reagan in 76, Newt in 1994, Buchanan in 88, hell, even Forbes was exciting in his own nerdy way. Kemp brought (briefly) a little energy to the ticket in 96 but that fizzled because of the guy at the top. Same with Palin.
And obviously Trump. And he’s changed everything, forever. Hopefully.

I worry a little that the Democrats might actually want Trump to be elected so that they can blame everything wrong on him, never mind that most of it came directly from applying the insane policies of Democrats. If the Dems hold control of Congress, they can be very effective at preventing the President from doing anything to fix the country.
If Byron thinks Haley is going to be the nominee in 2028, he is crazy. Is Byron going for the George Will award for conservative journalism?
Unfortunately (politics isn’t fair), I expect a pretty substantial Democrat House majority in 2025 - at least +25 and if the established GOP continues to battle Trump and their elected House has nothing to show for 2 years of a majority, could go a lot higher.
