Amid Cries of Bias, FBI Funding to Be Trimmed
Newsmax ^ | March 5, 2024 | Jeremy Frankel

Congressional leaders said this week that they plan to lower annual funding for the FBI in the newest spending bill, which the House and Senate are expected to vote on before Friday in order to avoid a partial government shutdown.

The FBI's 6% funding decrease came out to $654 million and results in its budget coming in at $10.7 billion, the Washington Examiner reported.

Republicans said that the bill "utilizes the power of the purse to address the weaponization of the growing bureaucracy within the FBI."

The appropriations bill, known as "minibus" legislation, consists of six of 12 appropriations bills, and would fund the Justice Department, the FBI, and several other agencies through Sept. 30.

Congress should trim the FIB budget to zero, fire 'em all and start over with no Democrats or Socialists.

They’re still getting their new building so the message is not clear enough.
Same with the IRS and their 87,000 new agents.

No, just eliminate the FBI, period. Sell all the assets at fir sale prices, raze the HQ, and turn it into a public park.

You know not everyone in the FBI is a useless corrupt stooge. I know A number of very Honorable men and women who work for the FBI. They bust their asses to do their job. A rule of thumb they told me is the closer to DC you get the more you need to watch your step..... take it for what it is. Like in the Navy there were good and bad commands.... FBI is greatly like that.

Nothing but an old chicken bone to gnaw on. Very not impressed.

Musk managed to cut 80% of Twitter workforce and it still runs. Should ask his opinion.

Your friends belong to a corrupt organization.

When I see the crips and the bloods I do not see rank and file.

There are many non-HQ agents flying round the country right now, perp walking people who got within sight of the capitol on J6.

It’s near impossible to comb out the good from the bad.

I'm not so sure. And perhaps I'm the one misreading things at the Washington Examiner article cited by the main post's Newsmax article: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2903568/fbi-sees-slight-reduction-in-funding-amid-republicans-accusations-of-political-bias/.

It says of the $654 million cut, $622 million of that are for construction projects. Maybe you're right and those funds are for many other construction projects besides the new headquarters. Or maybe I'm right and it means there won't be a new FBI headquarters for a while.

This is not going to “de-weaponize” the FBI. They will just shift funds that are needed elsewhere to fight real crime so they can continue kicking in doors of old people and J-6ers.

I know A number of very Honorable men and women who work for the FBI.

How many of them provided you with the names of, and evidence on, the bad apples in the FBI, so you could see that it was preserved and made public?

Should have cut it by 75% as well as trimmed the salaries of management to $1.

I’ll tell you what, how about we just eliminate every corrupt political partisan, and those honest agents who still commit crimes because they’re corrupt boss is telling them to. There is one hell of a lot of just following orders going on. Then see what’s left. My money is on a much much smaller organization.

I don’t buy it. In government-speak “trimmed” mean not increased as much.

Congrats on the signal. I wish it were ten times stronger (60% cut). Dems almost always double-down. Watch the FBI try to flip the House by way of response.
