WIKI

HAL’s capabilities, like all the technology in 2001, were based on the speculation of respected scientists. Marvin Minsky, director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and one of the most influential researchers in the field, was an adviser on the film set. In the mid-1960s, many computer scientists in the field of artificial intelligence were optimistic that machines with HAL’s capabilities would exist within a few decades. For example, AI pioneer Herbert A. Simon at Carnegie Mellon University had predicted in 1965 that “machines will be capable, within twenty years, of doing any work a man can do”.

No workers then? How will taxes be paid?
Life ahead will surely be a disaster.

If it’s sooo bad, unplug it, remove the code, disassemble the machine. It’s not the tool, it’s the human mind that uses it.

But there are some who want AI to run the World. Those people will discover they made a major error, one which maybe unable to be corrected. Humans need to rule or we become at the best a pet to AI.

Can’t trust photos posted on line anymore. Some have been AI generated and look nothing like the real thing. I now only trust the ones I personally took with my camera years ago.

Think of Star Trek.

If you are hungry, you speak your needs into a replicator
and bingo! Filet Mignon with a loaded baked potato. Need
some new threads? Snap your fingers and blam! A complete wardrobe.

What happens when work and wealth are no longer required
to sustain life? I can hardly grasp the economic disruptions
that will have to take place when science delivers us this
dystopia.

Already happening in most Democrat cities like New York City. Plenty of freebies given to imported illegal aliens, sustaining their lives - no work or wealth required. No AI necessary.

StarTrek now...
Filet Mignon, regurgitated beetles with garlic butter.
A loaded baked potato, larva, grub worms and secret sauce.
Salad, green grasshoppers. Don’t ask for dressing!
So on....
