Maine's Secretary of State Makes Announcement Following SCOTUS's 14th Amendment Ruling

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellow has reversed course in her effort to keep former President Trump off the primary ballot after the Supreme Court on Monday unanimously overturned a similar ruling in Colorado.

“I have reviewed the Anderson decision carefully. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that individual states lack authority to enforce Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment with respect to federal offices,” wrote Bellows, a Democrat. “Consistent with my oath and obligation to follow the law and the Constitution, and pursuant to the Anderson decision, I hereby withdraw my determination that Mr. Trump’s primary petition is invalid.”

She added: “As a result of the modified ruling, votes cast for Mr. Trump in the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election will be counted.”

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled 9-0 that "responsibility for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates rests with Congress and not the States.”

I think public officials like this should remove Trump from the ballot based on the fact they just don’t like him. Would be more honest and it might work.

I’m so glad this idiot non-lawyer girl has “reviewed the decision.” Maine continues to impress. (Of course there are a lot of ways to be impressive.)

Will she be convicted of felony interference with an official proceeding or felony election interference?

I assume she’s an attorney. Shouldn’t she be disbarred?

So, are the ballots PRINTED with Donald J. Trump’s name, or would people have to WRITE HIM in— which they would do but still... it affects the vote total to not have him on the ballot.

Claiming “I have reviewed the Anderson decision carefully” is a total joke. I only had to get through the first couple of paragraphs in under a minute to realize that Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellow had her arse handed to her.

Shenna Bellow is not the brightest bulb in the room.

Maine has both RCV and RCV-enabled electronic voting machines.

Deep State’s not worried.

Trump will still be on the ballot, but it will take 12 steps of verification, set up and hidden menus to get to his name...

“So, are the ballots PRINTED with Donald J. Trump’s name”

His name’s on the ballot. They knew what the court’s result would be. And they stayed keeping him off the ballot pending the court’s decision.

Supposedly, if the court went the other way, then they just wouldn’t have counted votes for him, since he would have been disqualified in the state for that office.

Ah, but has the Illinois traffic-court judge reversed her decision to keep Trump off of the ballot?

You bring this up often, so I would like to check my understanding:

Only state primaries can use RCV

But

They use the same machines for the general election

So - there are computer-controlled, factional-vote capable machines being used in the general elections.

Is that correct?

In film lore, the phrase that’s mighty white of you was used in the film After the Thin Man (1936) by the character Nick Charles as said to the character Dancer, the night club host, who stated that he would pay for all the drinks at Nick’s table.
