Yes, Schiff thinks that a Republican would be easier to beat than Porter. In that, he’s likely correct, because it’s California.
But Porter is just as much of a leftist as Schiff. It’s not like she’s some moderate Democrat.

Okay, so the way this will work out is that shifty-eyed Schiff-less will be the only D and the ballot because of his brilliant tactic and so he will win in November. Then, crazy eyes will be a disaster and embarrassment for California and the lunatic left. This will drive the rest of the country further to the right. We take our victories where we can get them. Before I learned what it was I was confused by two mailers about Garvey I received, marked a paid for by the Schiff campaign. It said Garvey is “too conservative for California” and… horrors… voted for Trump twice. All in all, far from a stinging indictment. Now we know that it was designed to get GOO to the polls to vote for Garvey , rather than for Porter or Lee as preferable to Schiff

I’m pulling for Garvey, though I read he has like a million bucks in the bank while Schiff has 30. On the other hand, Californians love to vote for celebrities, so we’ll see

there is reason for Republicans to like the fact that Garvey is doing well in the polls, even if it helps Schiff. Garvey’s presence on the ticket could help embattled California Republicans in several congressional races by increasing Republican turnout, which could help Republicans retain control of the House of Representatives.
Also, it is a good thing that there will be a choice on the Senate ballot, rather than two copies of the same thing.
If it came down to Schiff or Porter I’d rather see Schiffty win. Porter has an agenda and the mouth of a Karen. Schiffty will fall into the typical leftist yapping dog category that Kali delivers to the Senate so predictably.
Then he’s going to have to call them in Texas and Florida where most of them moved to get out from under polocies he supports. That where many left to.

All three Democrats are far-left loons, so there is no “strategic” voting to be had in this race. If there had actually be a “moderate” Democrat running, Republicans would have some thinking to do before pulling the trigger for Garvey. But again, all 3 suck. Barbara Lee might be marginally preferable because she is old and dumb and likely to be ineffectual beyond being a rubber stamp for Schumer.
