Our meddling was to counter Russia’s meddling and to help the Ukrainians secure their freedom. The pro-Russian side acts as if Russia were an innocent bystander until the nefarious CIA pulled some magic strings and caused the peace-loving and pro-Russian Ukrainians to the new Nazis. Nice myth but not reality. It was, and is, in our interest to help the Ukrainian people maintain their independence from an aggressive and expansionist Russia. None of this would have happened if the Russians would have just accepted that Ukraine is an independent country and no longer part of Russia. Would you just let Russia gobble up its smaller neighbors one by one?
Our meddling was unnecessary and a part of further meddling elsewhere under Obama.
