Is there a Samuel giving God's direction to a Saul?
Saul didn't follow instructions well, but maybe this time around could be different.
RE: Saul and the Amalekites
An interesting result of Saul’s disobedience to Samuel was his sparing of the Amalekite King, AGAG.
Hundreds of years later, this disobedience resulted in the near elimination of the Jews.
In 1 Samuel 15, King Saul was commanded by God through the prophet Samuel, to totally destroy the Amalekites TOTALLY, but he disobeyed and spared their king, Agag.
As recorded in the Book of Esther, Hundreds of years later, Haman , the powerful official of Xerxes plotted to eliminate the Jews and almost succeeded had God, in His divine providence not intervened.
Haman was as an “Agagite” by lineage, which is understood to mean he descended from this Amalekite king Agag that Saul spared.
This background helps explain Haman’s hatred and attempted genocide of the Jewish people, as the Amalekites were characteristic enemies of the Israelites.
