The Russian air force lost another Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bomber on Thursday, the Ukrainian air force claimed. If confirmed, the Thursday shoot-down would extend an unprecedented hot streak for Ukrainian air-defenses.
The Ukrainian claim they’ve shot down 11 Russian planes in 11 days: eight Su-34s, two Sukhoi Su-35 fighters and a rare Beriev A-50 radar plane.
But those 11 claimed losses are worse than they might seem for the increasingly stressed Russian air force. In theory, the air arm has plenty more planes. In practice, the service is dangerously close to collapse.
Exactly how the Ukrainians are shooting down so many jets is unclear. It’s possible the Ukrainian air force has assigned some of its American-made Patriot missile launchers to mobile air-defense groups that move quickly in close proximity to the 600-mile front line of Russia’s two-year wider war on Ukraine, ambushing Russian jets with 90-mile-range PAC-2 missiles then swiftly relocating to avoid counterattack.
But the distance at which the Ukrainians shot down that A-50 on Friday—120 miles or so—hints that a longer-range missile system was involved. Perhaps a Cold War-vintage S-200 that the Ukrainian air force pulled out of long-term storage.
It also is apparent the Ukrainians have moved some of their two-dozen or so 25-mile-range NASAMS surface-to-air missile batteries closer to the front line. After all, the Russians found—and destroyed with a missile—their first NASAMS launcher near the southern city of Zaporizhzhia on or before Monday.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened missile strikes on NATO countries sending troops to Ukraine, a video emerged showing one of Russia’s prized Pantsir missile systems overturning in the city of Sochi.
A military vehicle carrying Russia’s prized Pantsir-C1 air defense system appeared to overturn as it took a hard right on a road in Sochi, where one of Putin’s lavish residences is located.
The CCTV footage, published by the Crimean Wind Telegram channel, was watermarked with a time stamp dating the incident to today, Thursday, February 29.

Russian Troops Suffer Third Mass Casualty HIMARS Attack in a Week

Russia’s military has suffered a third mass casualty High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) attack in a week, according to local reports.
Russian and Ukrainian Telegram channels reported Wednesday that Kyiv’s military targeted a large group of Russian servicemen with U.S.-supplied HIMARS during a military awards ceremony in the village of Yelenovka, in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
A Russian Telegram user who claimed to be an employee of a branch of the Russian special services said that 19 Russian troops, including three officers, were killed, and a further 12 were injured in the attack. Ukraine hasn’t claimed responsibility. (excerpt)
All the Russians have to do, is leave.
The Russians are saying that if they didn’t invade, the Ukrainians would’ve destroyed them by now, so they had to.
That’s the narrative, so who can anyone on the right say that narrative is wrong? Putin says 500 years ago x=(1*1=2) like Terrence Howard, so that’s it for these types.

Thank you
I wonder if the loss of pilots doesn’t matter even more than the loss of air frames. I’ve heard that the Russians have the bad habit of using up their best pilots until they die. This might be the kind of situation that Japan found itself in the WW2.
Even so, unless the US can somehow get itself to provide arms to Ukraine all this might not matter for what I’m afraid could turn out to be the first stage of the next world war.
As we convince our current and potential western Pacific allies not to trust us, Russia is destroying its air force but rebuilding its industrial base and Europe is slowly rearming (and potentially deciding it has less of a need to be tied to US global political decisions).
I’m sure everyone is tired of parallels being drawn to the 1930’s, but I can’t help but see alarming similarities.
Not only the aircraft but the crews, which are ever harder to replace.
Putin is scammer same as Terrence Howard

I have no comment on the article, just the Author Davis Axe. He is a leftist tool writing for a now communist CCP owned Forbes. He has multiple articles every week in regards to this war and EVERY single one will have this line.....”thanks to Russia-aligned Republicans”
This Republican certainly is not in Putin’s camp. But I don’t care much for the corrupt Ukraine, there Natzi elements and having to fund them. This is European problem and they have the money and capacity to deal with it PERIOD.
