I’d rather be caffeinated than depressed with $6’: Young Americans are rejecting Dave Ramsey’s financial advice — here’s why they say they’re ‘not willing to do anything to get out of debt'

ave Ramsey has fervently preached financial advice to Americans for decades — but younger generations are now slamming the white-bearded radio host for offering counsel that doesn’t quite account for the current cost-of-living crisis.

One frothy example is Ramsey’s vociferous renunciation of the daily cuppa Joe. In a 2021 blog post, he claims your coffee habit could be costing you $766 a year, and suggests folks should put those funds toward paying their your student debt, their investments or even a plane ticket.

I agree. You should invest in a 401K at least up to the company matching percentage.

I also think you should have some money outside of an IRA so when you need it, it won’t become a huge taxable event.

Taxes are inevitable. Learn how to minimize them while maximizing investments.

The Bialetti Moka pot delivers a first rate cup of coffee. All you have to do is clean it before you use it and feed it decent coffee. I’m sipping what amounts to a quad shot of Lavazza as I write this.

I personally can’t drink coffee, as it makes me sick. I’m a tea drinker, but I can also drink cappuccino. So, if I’m inclined to have coffee, I will have a cappuccino. For me, paying for a cappuccino machine would be worth because it would be used at least once a day.

If you are 55 plus, senior coffee at McDonald’s is $1

By the time I'm 55, coffee will be $55...and being 55 will be illegal anyway. :(

The ability to take loans is a plus to these accounts.

My Victor Allen coffee pods are about 27 cents a cup. Certainly not 6 dollars.

I do go into debt, but try to pay it off as soon as possible. Nonetheless, I may need to get a second job soon, thanks to JRB, Jr. and his bi-partisan collaborators in Congress.

I don't even like using a bathroom at a gas station without buying something in the convenience store.

So it's not just me, then!

(I've always thought of it as the equivalent of paying a service fee for using their utilities.)

“I never stop for just coffee - only for dining out.”

When we eat out, we NEVER but any beverages. They are so expensive. Water. Only exception is if we’re traveling and buy breakfast, then there’s coffee.

We just hired a very young enterprising couple to clean our house. Early 20s, I’d say. They raved about the house and said they’d like to have a nice one some day.

We told them to live below their means, and always pay cash unless credit is absolutely necessary. It’s challenging at first, but will pay off big time later on.

Well have to look into that brand. Have never heard of it. We get Pacific Bold from Costco when it’s on sale. I think it’s the Kirkland brand.

“Get some cash back credit cards.”

We have a Visa through our Costco membership. Every February, we get cash based on expenditures through the year. It really adds up.

We moved in July, and set up auto pay for most utilities on that card, so that helps, too.

That’s just awful. The galling thing is, Biden and his cronies will never pay for what they have done to people like you and me.

And the puzzling thing is he is doing the same to people who will cast their vote for him. No questions asked.

Those people are mentally ill.

Tried the San Francisco Bay French Roast last trip - wheeeeee!

Oh yeah! Have some waiting for the grinder!

I DO like a strong cup.

My store currently has Peets French Roast already ground on sale...its ok for my current everyday. But it does NOT make good moka pot coffee...way too strong and muddy tasting.

Not mentally ill, necessarily. Just naive. They really don’t believe The Party will harm them, I guess.

Those people shouldn’t be allowed to vote-we are going to have to go to a mental “means test” to see if people are mentally competent enough to vote!

Because if you vote for people who enslave you, you cannot be mentally competent enough to vote.

Inability to delay gratification for long-term gain has a high correspondence to both poverty and criminality.
