CBS News has returned the notes it seized from a high-profile reporter the network fired for 'investigating Hunter Biden.'
Catherine Herridge, a veteran reporter covering national security and intelligence, was among the hundreds of CBS employees who were laid off by parent company Paramount last week.
Herridge covered investigations into the Biden family, and the network seized her personal notes after her termination in a move her union calls 'completely inappropriate' and 'very unusual.'
...
'This action is deeply concerning to the union because it sets a dangerous precedent for all media professionals and threatens the very foundation of the First Amendment
...
Herridge had recently covered the House impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, special counsel Robert Hur's report on his handling of classified documents, and the criminal charges against Hunter Biden.
Her inclusion in recent layoffs puzzled some industry observers, as she regularly broke news and landed scoops for CBS.
'Catherine Herridge has been a unicorn, a reporter for the corporate media for CBS, and she has been willing to actually report on the Biden corruption so what did CBS do? They laid her off?' Senator Ted Cruz
...
Herridge had been pursuing a story related to Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop, and that she had 'encountered roadblocks' from management over her coverage of the First Son.
Herridge in November 2022 authenticated the laptop, which the Post had first reported on in October 2020.
Separately, Herridge has been in the middle of a high-profile court battle over her refusal to reveal sources for articles she wrote in 2017.

Returned them after copying them all no doubt.
Well they got what they wanted didn’t they
Well, I guess there's no need to fight that particular lawsuit any longer...
Yeah sure, now that they have the names they give it back. The damage that stupid, vile, female CEO of CBS has done irreparable harm to ALL journalists. So far the left has destroyed:
1. Attorney client privilege
2. Doctor patient relations
3. Journalist anonymous source privilege
4. The Rule of Law
What else are they going to destroy?
doj/fbi has been doing this
scooping privileged material
then returning
saying oh so sorry
IF we lived in a fascist state
the corporation would do the state’s bidding
but we dont do we?
do we?
The media is making war on the truth. The only competition is for which lies get the most air time.
CBS was going after her sources so they could turn them over to the FBI. This gives the FBI the targets for persecution for the act of ratting out corruption that has deep tentacles in DC.
No we do not .live in a fascist state.
Corps do the bidding in every form of totalitarianism.
Yet no fascist state in the history of the world has ever had open borders.
Herridge had been pursuing the damaging Hur report and a story related to Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop from hell, and had ‘encountered roadblocks’ from management (under orders from Biden?) over her coverage of the First Son.
Am I the only one stunned that this reporter did not have back up files for all of her work? Surely withholding sensitive contacts in work files? It seems to me that this reporter failed to adequately protect her files from this type of outcome, or from other types of theft...unless she did account for it, and set a clever information bomb.
Hard to tell. She may have saved early stuff......but if she was working on an angle
when she got axed she may not have saved that particular chapter. We dont know.
No doubt.
Herridge is an ace. I can’t understand why FNC let her get away.
It is Monday morning quarterbacking to expect someone to know their employer would violate one hundred years of practice in the company and industry to fire them and then seize their files.
Now reporters know—trust no-one ever.
FNC run / owned by RINOs.
I am still bothered with the employer employee relationship that seems to be missed here. Politics aside, her work was paid for by the company, and unless there was an agreement that the notes were hers, they belong solely to the company as work product. Time and again, employees thinking they have ownership of what they work on while paid by a company. This erosion of employer rights is dangerous trend
