Aside from just the usual corruption stuff - I still don’t see why charging and letting a jury decide this wasn’t an option. Even if a foregone conclusion that grandpa bad finger would get a pass due to being out of his mind in dementia, then so be it and at least let the process play out. He broke the law for decades prior to his current mental state. Find him guilty and then they can decide that putting a dementia patient in prison who is a former president isn’t going to happen and then let him simply retire and live out of sight in one of his mansions. He has plenty of money (through various legal and illegal means) so charge, convict and then he just lives out remainder of his time sitting on his deck while his brave doctor wife can go make appearances and soak up the sympathy.

There have been some amicus filings to the supreme court for Trump matters that suggest Biden would have to be impeached and convicted before they could try him at least while in office.
