“Seems to me Arizona has grounds to prosecute this guy, if New York wants a shot after Arizona is finished, that’s a different story. Plus, I think New York might be under different obligations if the guy was convicted.”
AZ said he would be extradited to NY after convictions. According to agreements NY would be legally obligated to enforce AZ sentencing requirements.
Of course the word “legally” implies nothing in New York. Just because they should do something legally does not mean they will. In fact they probably won’t. Perhaps this criminal is a friend of Obama’s sent into Arizona on an assignment that went wrong.
