I read an article recently that the country is discontinuing all landlines within next couple of years.
So what kind of land line?
Actual, physical, copper wire coming into your home and/or business?
Voice over IP?
Hybrid Cellular/VOIP systems?
All of the above?
The UK plan is to turn off all PSTN and ISDN services (landlines) in 2025. Users will have to move to a digital phone of some kind, wireless or wired to a VoIP box. After this happens, everyone’s phone will be dependent on the internet, one way or the other.
I suspect the US is going to let UK be the guinea pig but won’t be far behind.
If it’s the one, I’m thinking of, it was one of the legacy providers wanting to stop supporting copper land lines in more remote areas of California.
Don’t need a landline to operate a CB or Ham radio.
Or Morse Code.
You can set up windmill in an open area of your yard to generate electricity as well to power CB s and Ham if the grid goes down.
