Not true. On July 4, 1776, it was adopted unanimously by the 56 delegates to the Second Continental Congress, who had convened at the Pennsylvania State House

Not true- the vote was on July 2. July 4 was adoption. This point is made by historians. A distinction with the timeline of the beginning, to become July 4th. The point was not lost on Adams or Jefferson throughout their lives. And NY did abstain, which was the point of the post. Still abstaining from the Constitution imho in deference to the Marxists in charge (Cuomo to Hochul and Letitia).
