MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Everything that is happening in the Ukrainian direction is a matter of life and death for Russia, it is the fate of the country, whereas for the West it is only a matter of their tactical position, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"I think that for ourselves, and even more so for listeners and viewers abroad, it is important to understand the course of our thoughts, to understand our condition, to understand how sensitive and important this is for our country — everything that is happening in the Ukrainian direction. For them [the West], this is an improvement in their tactical position. While for us it is fate, it is a matter of life and death," Putin said, commenting on the historical part of his recent interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

“...for us it is fate, it is a matter of life and death”

And people STILL CLAIM that Russia will walk away from Ukraine as the Soviet Union did with Afghanistan.

(but I suspect they know better...)

Yeah, invading yet another neighboring country and slaughtering its citizens sure is a matter of life and death for Russia, according to Comrade Putin.

Who cares what you say people “claim”.

Russia didn’t fight a two year war for Afghanistan and walk away because the country was defended.

Russia took Afghanistan quickly and installed a new government. Then they faced a guerilla war of attrition and finally gave up and left.

Ukraine is a different everything, but IF Russia even takes the territory, no one knows when they will withdraw.

But withdraw they will, and not just from Ukraine. The template will be more like the Soviet Union leaving Eastern Europe.

But no one can predict the future, and you’re not here to honestly discuss the world situation. You’re here on a bizarre mission to agitate for your beloved Russia.

“Who cares what you say people “claim”.”

Tough Shiite, I’ve heard that claim plenty of times regarding this war. Hopefully your buddies learn that YOU’RE WRONG.

As to Russia withdrawing from parts of Russia (formerly Ukraine), anything is possible, but only they’ll do it after firing nukes at whoever is driving them out - they have made that PERFECTLY CLEAR.

Putin is just playing the West to try and get them to give up.
However, when he talks of life and death, from what I understand he’s being somewhat truthful.
Because many think if Putin ultimately loses Crimea, his dictatorship will crumble.

Ukraine is a dangerous situation for him, Europe and the United States. I hope Trump can be elected and end the war by whatever means he finds expedient.
I have no faith in the democrats to do anything but make matters worse.

Yup, it’s a matter of self defense for Russia.
The SMO will not end soon

Again who cares about your trivial ranting about what’s clear? You’re a nothing who comes in here to constantly tell people exactly what is and isn’t going to happen in the world.

We could probably get it right by assuming the opposite of anything you go on about.

You’re just annoying.

“Again who cares about your trivial ranting about what’s clear?”

You can attack me all you want if it helps you cope with the Liberation of Avdeevka, but it does not change the FACTS ON THE GROUND, which is that 4 Oblasts are now PART OF RUSSIA, as far as Russia is concerned and anyone launching an attack on them will get the same treatment as they would if attacking Moscow.

Go read up on their doctrine, instead of taking out your butt-hurt on people dosing out some REALITY.

...and if I annoy you, then find someone else to take out your anger on.

Actually, given the reports today, the SMO may end much sooner than people think, and with the objectives of Russia completed.

“for us it is fate, it is a matter of life and death,” Putin said”

Then I guess the only path forward is death for Russia. The country must be defeated and broken up, their language extinguished, and their remaining people conquered and subjugated.

Do unto them what they do to others.

Life and death for Moscow as an expansionist power. Putin will be dead soon anyway, but his replacement will be worse if allowed to be. Slam the door on the kennel now, and reinforce it for the future.

When your country and your people are under attack you stand up and fight back and take no prisoners.

Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu get it.

Joe Biden doesn’t.

How could anyone make a statement like that unless they are a Russian troll? You are obviously a Putin supporter!

Who was that city in the upper right hand corner of the map named after? What was her title? What do the last four letters of the city name mean?

Anyone who has studied the Soviet Union knows that the Russians are more afraid of nuclear war than Americans. Much, much more. There are many reasons for this, but one of the main ones is that Russia is fundamentally an atheist country. They, and especially the ones in control, don’t believe in an afterlife like the Christians (and the Muslims). Their existence and legacy ends here on Earth.

I’m just letting people know their Military Doctrine, but I do agree with the above...or we wouldn’t even be posting here now, given how involved NATO is with this war.
