They haven't been attacking for a year straight. They made attempts throughout a period of time. This latest attack was larger and much better coordinated. Ask the Ukrainians on the ground. They were surprised by the tactics and skill of the Russians. The west made the Russians into a much improved fighting force. They seem to be hitting their stride while Ukraine is stumbling. It kind of reminds me of the last two years of world war two.
