Problem is that this is happening across the country in special elections. So I guess anytime there’s a special election and it’s between a Republican and a Democrat it’s a 100% sure bet that the Democrats gonna win. If you’re a betting person and you wanna make money it’s a sure thing always bet on the Democrats this is the way things are going now. Little by little they’re eliminating us little by little.

All I can conclude is that the Rats have figured out how to exploit the new and extended period of early/mail-in voting.

They seem thoroughly prepared to GOTV and leave nothing to chance.

Plus, they’re filthy rich while we’re literally bankrupt—and disorganized.

Finally, it’s been 2 and a half months since Santos was expelled so they’ve been fully prepared to do rally the troops, so to speak.

I hope and pray it’s not too late to turn things around for November. We can’t afford to stagnate because the clock is ticking toward thee election that will determine if our Republic can be saved!!!

This one is officially over now, and Pirip very may well lose by more than expected.

Special elections are all about motivation and organization, and the RNC’s got nothing.

I admit I do not know much about her.

Not looking good with half the vote in.

I understand that this seat will be up again in November.

Hopefully, our side can come up with a more formidable, better known candidate to unseat Suozzi.

I do agree you’d think New Yorkers would reach a breaking point.

District is NE Queens and North Nassau. Lots of Asians and Jewish folks neither of whom typically vote for Republicans of any sort. Santos’ win in 2022 was a midterms fluke for that district.

This is something I'll never understand. I get flak sometimes from fellow conservatives here in Florida because I always vote EARLY in the early voting cycle.

Same, and for the reasons you posted.

And in the military, I often have to vote by mail. I don't worry about shenanigans doing either. I voted early for Trump in Florida in 2016 and he won Florida. I voted for Trump by mail in Florida in 2020 and he won by an even greater margin.

This leads me to believe my votes were counted.

Also winning in fluke outcomes in 2022 to one extent or another in NY were D’Esposito, Lawler, Molinaro and Williams, aside from Santos.

All but Molinaro (maybe) have an excellent chance to get the boot in 2024.

Especially when you factor in the upcoming screw-Republicans-to-the-wall gerrymander that the Democrats are about to force through. They will probably try to get Malliotakis too, and the Suffolk County guys (Lalota, Garabino) are not necessarily perfectly safe either.

The Republican Party, outside of Trump, is a Party about Nothing.

Pilip just conceded.

I must add, that as closely as I follow politics, it didn’t seem like she had much support from her party.

The Republic Party handpicked her. She's still a registered Democrat although she won a Republican local seat in Glen Cove. Don't ask me how. It's a mystery.

It's a weird district combining some of the most liberal Nassau County towns with parts of always liberal Queens in NYC. Add to that, NY Republicans who were obsessed with Santos helped to have him ousted.

Santos could have been voted out in November but nooo Republicans are too pure. Spit.

Thank you so much, CaptainK!!

I sincerely appreciate your excellent post.

I now know and can understand why Pilip lost and the political dynamics at work in this diverse district.

I should have also added that Suozzi held this congressional seat for 3 terms and left to run unsuccessfully for Governor. Santos won his vacated seat. Suozzi was also Nassau County Executive Supervisor for 7 years and the Mayor of Glen Cove. In other words a locally well known professional politician. Pilip was basically unknown.

Good morning, CaptainK

Thanks again. You taught me so much. Here’s what President Trump has to say about this outcome:

Donald J. Trump

Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat? I have an almost 99% Endorsement Success Rate in Primaries, and a very good number in the General Elections, as well, but just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to “straddle the fence,” when she would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America. MAGA, WHICH IS MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, STAYED HOME - AND IT ALWAYS WILL, UNLESS IT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES. I STAYED OUT OF THE RACE, “I WANT TO BE LOVED!” GIVE US A REAL CANDIDATE IN THE DISTRICT FOR NOVEMBER. SUOZZI, I KNOW HIM WELL, CAN BE EASILY BEATEN!

You are very be welcome.

While I'm upset about the loss I don't be see it as it as an indicator of Trump weakness. It makes sense that Suozzi recaptured his seat in a majority Democrat district. The Santos win was an aberration because he only won on the coattails of Lee Zeldin’s strong showing against Kathy Hochul in the Governor's race that year. It was a down ballot win that didn't exist in this special election.

And Trump is right....again.
