The standoff begins.
Maybe the speaker could offer a bill with $50 billion for the US border—the wall and deportations—$10 billion for Israel, and 10% of that, $6 billion to Ukraine representing the Big Guy’s share, on behalf of President Biden.
It’s truly amazing how the 17th amendment reversed our political system. The senate was intended to moderate the desires of the people, but now it is the senate that represents the inner cities and big government donors, and the House that is the moderating wing of government.
“They will have to go for discharge petition”
At least a dozen Dims oppose the bill due to unrestricted Israel funding.
Are there 15-20 Republicans willing to break ranks?
There better not be. It will be the end of them, with certainty.
House members do not want the base of their party determined to eliminate them. Especially when it’s a 2/3 majority of the voting base.
Dr Feelgoods job is not easy to get resident Tater coherent.
The UniParty needs 218 signatures to force it to the floor.
There are 219 Republicans and 212 Democrats.
Do you think there are enough Republicans who would defy their party and join the Democrats to force action?
(I do.)
There are easily a dozen Dims opposed to the bill.
The “kindly, well-meaning Biden with a faulty memory” said:
“Republicans in Congress who think they can oppose funding for Ukraine and not be
held accountable, history is watching. Failure to support Ukraine will never be forgotten.”
I guess biden plumb forgot.....those opposing House members are listening to we, the people.
That’s how our govt works
“They will have to go for discharge petition”

If the Democrats are successful in getting a discharge petition (by colluding with a handful of GOP wimps), the next action will be Gaetz calling for the ouster of Mike Johnson as speaker.
That’s interesting math and sounds great for us
I’m just so cynical.
You mean the Ukrainians will need to fund their pensions themselves?
I’m sure all those refugees flowing into the US are well read on current events, and when the time comes for them to participate in our “democracy” they will use that knowledge to pick the candidates who will most likely refuse to engage in policies leading to new flows of refugees.
This is great. But, how long before he capitulates? Hoping he sticks to his guns!
The Republicans as a Whole are Corporate Globalists faking to the Right all the time.
If they allow more money for Ukraine I will seriously punish them not vote for their Senate candidate here in Pennsylvania Dave McCormick.
Heck McCormick is just another Hedge Fund Elitist.
Trump, Doug Mastriano and so on won’t change my mind.
The Republican Party as whole must unite around the concept.
Not One Dime More For Ukraine
Republicans will pay if this money for Ukraine gets through I will not be distracted by the noise of how it happens but if it happens Republicans Will Pay.
Mike Johnson should point out that it useless to send any bills to a president who has been deemed incapable of standing trial. He is obviously incapable of understanding and signing bills.
I wish we had something like the Brits do with asking questions of the Prime Minister. Without pre-written questions and answers, Biden’s mental state would be obvious
Link passage of the Senate foreign aid package to the Senate passing HR 2 and Biden signing it into law.
I wouldn't place a bet, even for Democrats.
I’m not so sure. DC only can protect so many.
