U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday blasted his predecessor Donald Trump's comments on NATO, saying they have raised the stakes for Congress to approve new funding to support Ukraine.
Biden called "dangerous" and "unAmerican" Trump's comment that he would not want to protect NATO members from a future attack by Russia if those countries' contributions to the defense alliance were lagging.

Biden is feeling the unraveling of some rather involved bunko as the days pass. His advancing senility is likely contributing to a very short emotional fuse. Sad for the country, as under the Obama-Biden “fundamental transformation” schemes, we are ailing. As to Biden, “karma” is well on its way.
A lot of people here are in lockstep with Biden. They agree with him 100% on NATO and Ukraine funding.
It’s un-American not to “slobber Ukraine”, the epicenter of nazism in today’s world.
LOL !
Brandon’s whole speech is like a campaign ad for Trump !
JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, TRUMP GAVE
AN INVITATION TO PUTIN
TO INVADE SOME OF OUR ALLY,
NATO’S ALLIES.
>> HE SAID IF AN ALLY DIDN’T
SPEND ENOUGH MONEY ON DEFENSE,
HE WOULD ENCOURAGE RUSSIA TO,
QUOTE, DO WHATEVER THE HELL
THEY WANT ...
DONALD TRUMP LOOKS AT THIS
AS IF IT’S A BURDEN WHEN LOOKS
AT NATO, HE DOESN’T SEE
THE ALLIANCE THAT PROTECTS
AMERICA AND WORLD.
HE SEES A PROTECTION RACKET.
I’m surprised Biden actually got the players right, I would have expected he would have accused Trump of abandoning West Germany and siding with Khrushchev.
reckless yes, but dangerous no
If Trump hyperbole really threatens NATO, then there’s not much to NATO.
First of all, NATO is a Senate-approved treaty. As a Senate-approved treaty (not an executive agreement), it isn’t clear if a President has the power to break a [Senate-approved] treaty without the approval of Congress:
“Presently, there is no Supreme Court ruling on whether the President has the power to break a treaty without the approval of Congress; it remains unclear which branch of government is empowered by the Constitution to terminate a treaty, much less the procedure for doing so.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_Clause
Second, since making his reckless statement, Trump has dialed it back. He says he’s trying to invigorate NATO. He says that because of his, shall we say, rhetoric, the European members of NATO have promised to meet their obligation.
Everybody should bear in mind that Trump isn’t a politician or a diplomat. He’s a businessman. In particular, a deal-maker. He’s always looking for a better deal, whether with positive or negative inducements.
Also, what Trump says about NATO is correct. The Europeans have been getting a subsidy from the U.S. for years. That was o.k. during the immediate post-war people, when Europe was in shambles; and, even later, facing a huge USSR and Warsaw Pact.
Nowadays, the democracies of Europe are wealthy and the Warsaw Pact and even the USSR are gone. Russia is a pathetic country compared to what had been prior to 1991. The ratio of NATO to Russia is more like 10-to-1 than 1-to-1. If each of the NATO countries does its share, we will have no problem with Russia no matter that Putin is delusional. It’s only when the Europeans allow themselves to be weak, thinking we will defend them, that NATO will be weak because us won’t defend a bunch of sniveling cowards that won’t do squat to defend themselves.
I myself have had it up to here with Iraqis, Afghans and others who think uncle sap will defend them. They won’t defend themselves against ISIS or the Taliban, the heck with them. Ultimately, Biden’s is the one who is playing Putin’s game by allowing the Europeans to shirk their responsibilities under the NATO agreement.
Only thing ‘dangerous’ about Trump NATO remarks is to let them keep getting a free ride with our weapons and military he’s right 100%.
Biden wants to funnel money into more places then Ukraine high kickbacks.
Biden says, My God man what will they think if we don't fund all these foreign causes. They don't care what American taxpayers think about anything.
Our country is becoming 3rd world while we pay for everyone but US.
The US should set a new standard—all NATO countries pay equally, equal share, else they drop out or the US drops out. They need us more than we need them.
The National Defense Act of ‘23 has a clause in it that would require a 2/3 Congressional super majority to specifically exit the NATO Treaty.
Not sure if that is “constitutional” but it would be another hoop to jump through.
I think Biden’s is past his blackmail payment due date.
I really have to believe that Biden’s past sins and corruption
never would have come to light were it not for Zelensky getting elected. As soon as the Russian stooge that Biden was
laundering through was ousted, the jig was up for Biden. Now,
instead of the Biden’s laundering money through foreign aid,
Zelensky becomes the new collector of blackmail funds, payable in cash, HIMARS, F-16’s or whatever else Zelensky wants.
Biden isn’t afraid that Ukraine will fall without the supplimental
aid bill. Biden is terrified that Zelensky will start spilling the Biden crime family secrets.
If I don’t pay my insurance premium I will not be covered for an accident or damage.
give billions to Iran was dangerous, telling NATO members they need to pay for continued protection is the definition of responsible.
Agree NATO was agreed to be all about unity.
This is dangorus. The deep state is losing control of America. Will they try to burn it?
Hey Biteme, you don’t pay your way...you don’t get to play. Sounds reasonable to me, but then I’m an adult.
